New Role for Auxiliary Land-Mobile Units.

At the request of Group San Francisco, Auxiliary land-mobile units are being asked to patrol popular Windsurfer/Kite Surfer launching sites. The two biggest needs are at Crissy Field and at the 3rd Street Windsurfer Park in San Mateo.

New Categories of D11(NR) Aux Land-Mobile Facilities.
See the Comms Page.
With the implementation of the Mt. Diablo Repeater system, the potential exists for inexperienced repeater operators to have their unintentional on-air mistakes heard over most of Northern and Central California! Accordingly, we want to insure that those able to access and control our repeaters and especially their remote-base (marine channels) gear have the knowledge and equipment to properly do so. We have devised a new Comms-1 Form for all land-mobile and fixed-land operators to use to become certified to operate the Mt. Diablo system remote-base equipment. Read about it on the Comms Page.

WHO CAN FLY THE AUX ENSIGN?

On 1 October 1999 Commandant Notice 16795 allowed Auxiliary members who do not wish to offer their vessels as facilities to have a vessel safety check performed on their vessel, thereby assuring at least a minimal level of boating safety equipment. These vessels, not being facilities, either operational or non operational may not however display the Auxiliary ensign or fly Auxiliary officers' flags

NEW D11N Procedure - RE:  Non-Operational Facilities

A Non-Operational facility inspection is required, by a Vessel Examiner, to fly the Auxiliary Blue ensign.  A record of the Non-Operational Facility inspection is not recorded in AUXDATA.

In addition, the Directors office is no longer responsible for tracking or maintaining files of Non-Operational facilities.  Effective immediately (May 2005) the completed 7003 inspection form will be mailed to the DSO-VE.  After verifying information the vessel owner will be sent a Facility shield and  copy of the form.  A copy will also be sent to the Director's office to be placed in the member's files.
